The main theme of this Conference will be
The Conference will be focused on the use of TeX in the preparation of multilingual, complex documents for various output devices in combination with XML and Unicode. Merging SVG, XSL-FO and XSLT with existing TeXnologies, the preparation of electronic books, and the typesetting of rare and lost scripts (Linear A/B, Maya Hieroglyphics, etc.) are some of the main topics of interest.

The Conference will be held in the new Kimeria premises of the Democritus University of Thrace, 1.5 km East of the town of Xanthi, Greece.
Xanthi is located 732 km NE of Athens or 218 km E of Thessaloniki. The town of Xanthi is built on the foots of the Rodopi mountain chain, in the beginning of a plain that spreads south to the Thracean Sea. It is the spiritual and commercial centre of the area, characterised by the coexistence of Christian and Muslim populations. It has a well-preserved old neighbourhood (“The Old Town”) with beautiful 19th century buildings and granite-paved roads. The population of Xanthi and the surrounding communities amounts to 60,000 inhabitants. Since 1975, Xanthi is host to the Polytechnic School of the Democritus University of Thrace.
Xanthi is accessible
By plane
50 min flight from Athens to Kavala and 35 km drive to Xanthi. Service twice a day by Olympic Aviation and once a day by Aegean Airlines. Return fares range from €120 to €180.
By train
10 h from Athens or 4 h from Thessaloniki with InterCity trains. Service once a day with InterCity trains, but several other slower/cheaper trains pass through Xanthi. An adult return fare Athens-Xanthi with InterCity trains costs €85 and an adult return fare Thessaloniki-Xanthi costs €24.50.
By bus
10 h from Athens or 4 h from Thessaloniki. Service twice a day from/to Athens; more frequent service to Thessaloniki. An adult return fare Athens-Xanthi costs €65 and an adult return fare Thessaloniki-Xanthi costs €22.
